300 MVA LONDON DATA CENTRE

132/11 KV HV INFRASTRUCTURE AND POWER SYSTEMS DESIGN

All Case Studies

P&R Power Systems acted as Lead High Voltage Designer for a major 300 MVA data centre development in London, delivering high voltage power systems design and technical consultancy for the clients 132/11 kV electrical infrastructure project.

Our scope covered the design of the HV network and generation architecture, protection and control systems and overall system coordination ensuring a resilient, scalable and highly available power infrastructure aligned with the operational requirements of a mission-critical facility.

A key element of the project was the design and assurance of the generator earthing systems and primary substation, ensuring safe operation under both grid-connected and islanded conditions. This included detailed earthing studies, Earth Potential Rise (EPR) assessments and coordination of earthing interfaces.

We developed the full protection philosophy for the site, including SCADA integration, automated protection, interlocking and switching strategies to support system resilience, fault containment and rapid restoration of supply. These schemes were designed to enable intelligent network reconfiguration and to maintain continuity of supply under both fault and maintenance conditions.
